Mike Ward provides KUB’s clients with bespoke content strategy and copywriting services, based on his 30 years’ experience of journalism.
A former BBC news editor and newspaper reporter, Mike covered many business stories and interviewed key figures from senior politicians to captains of industry. He has also trained business executives in handling the media.
Mike left the BBC to join the UK’s most established journalism school at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston (UCLan), where he was Head of School for 10 years. He taught many of today’s national journalists how to report and write. Business reporting was an important part of the curriculum and guest speakers included Robert Peston, then Business Editor of BBC News, and journalists from the FT.
Mike also gained invaluable practical experience of business strategy and finances as a Head at UCLan. His school had a multi-million-pound annual turnover with up to 1400 students and 80 staff. He was the primary budget holder, strategist, leader, and manager.

Since running his own content business, Mike has provided editorial services for a wide range of businesses, usually, SMEs, including accountants, property developers, interior designers, furniture importers, business coaches, HR companies, engineers, lift manufacturers and polystyrene products, to name a few. Mike recognised the need for companies to have an effective content strategy for their digital marketing.
He also delivers in-house writing training for companies, often in specialist areas. Recent clients include the marketing team at a national fertiliser manufacturer.
As a journalist, each day Mike had to make the intricacies of one world compelling to others. Whether it’s business, finance or technology, he’s still doing it, and can for you.
